Work History
Aetna | Demand Generation Analyst, Level II
June 2011 - Dec 2013
I'll be honest: I fell into this job after spending a year working gigs doing audio production, film sound design, church video services, and freelance web development throughout Colorado.
I never intended to get into Go-to-Market Operations, but I owe my entire career to Aetna.
I started at Healthagen as a Marketing Intern in Jun 2011. Our company had taken advantage of the free-flowing market that was iPhone Apps. Our primary product was called iTriage.
When I started at Healthagen, I sat under the Web Marketing Manager, running email programs for her using Eloqua.
In December 2011, Healthagen was acquired by Aetna and rebranded as iTriage. Healthagen became another entity inside of Aetna, but I stayed with the mobile apps team at iTriage as a full-time Demand Generation Analyst (a Marketing Operations Analyst by today's standards).
After the acquisition by Aetna, iTriage was able to ramp up hiring for our marketing and sales teams. We were also given authority over our budget to ensure the best tech stack would be built without the bureaucracy of Aetna’s corporate IT procurement processes.
I became the lead for iTriage, selecting, setting up, and managing our Marketo instance alongside our Salesforce (Classic) instance. It was a task no one else wanted, but I raised my hand and took the challenge. That decision kickstarted my career in operations. I didn't know that at the time.
I left Aetna in December 2013 and moved to Austin to return to early-stage startups.
