Work History
Khoros | Sr. Manager, Marketing Automation & Operations
Dec 2013 - Dec 2019
In December 2013, I decided to leave working in a large enterprise and return to working at startups where I could make a noticeable impact. I moved from Denver to Austin on a whim (thanks to SXSW) and started working at Spredfast, running marketing automation for the demand generation team.
A few months later, in April 2014 (April 2nd, to avoid April Fools Day jokes), Spredfast and Mass Relevance, another Austin-based social media startup, merged into Spredfast. I, along with the sales and marketing operations teams from Mass Relevance, set off to merge both our Salesforce and Marketo instances along with the website and customers. The project took about 3 months to complete.
Shortly after completing the merger of the two companies, Spredfast acquired a competitor, Shoutlet, in August 2015. Once again, we set off to combine the Shoutlet systems and teams into the Spredfast systems and teams.
Finally, in 2018, Spredfast was acquired by Vista Equity Partners and merged with Lithium to form Khoros.
At this point, I became the Senior Manager of Marketing Automation & Operations for Khoros. My first responsibility was spearheading the marketing track for setting up, once again, an entirely new tech stack under the Khoros brand through Vista's BOSS (business operations and systems standards) project while also maintaining two disconnected tech stacks and separate sales motions. Yes, we were successfully running two complete tech stacks while building a third all within the same team.
The project started in March 2019 and culminated in August when we officially relaunched all internal systems and processes under a single tech stack. The credit goes to my team of analysts, developers, and stakeholders for launching our part of the project on time, on budget, and 100% bug-free.
After completing the BOSS project, I felt that my time at Khoros (Spredfast) could officially be over. After many incredible years working with the best** team of people I've ever worked with, it was time for my next challenge. I departed Khoros in December 2019.
** Sidenote: I mean it when I say the best team of people I have ever worked with. If anyone ever needs an honest recommendation for nearly anyone who worked at Spredfast, Mass Relevance, Shoutlet, Lithium, or Khoros while I was there please let me know! I have a list of people who I'd work with again in an instant (or form the ultimate dream team).
